Why connect notes?
Connecting notes helps the AI assistant understand how different parts of your project relate to each other. This allows the AI to provide more focused, relevant, and insightful answers by considering the bigger picture. Think of it like creating a mind map – you're showing the AI how your ideas are connected.
How do I connect notes?
To connect two notes, simply click the green circle above one note and drag a line and connect it to the red circle on another note.
Can I control which notes the AI assistant uses?
Yes, you can control which notes the AI assistant considers when generating responses. Each note has an "on/off" switch located on the top left of each note.
On (Enabled): When a note is "on," the AI assistant will use the information in that note. This is the default state for new notes.
Off (Disabled): When a note is "off," the AI assistant will ignore the information in that note. It's like temporarily removing the note from the AI's memory, without actually deleting it.
Why would I turn a note off?
Experimentation: You might want to experiment with different versions of a scene or character detail. You can turn off one version while working on another.
Focusing the AI: If you have a lot of notes, you can temporarily turn off less relevant ones to help the AI focus on the most important information for a specific task.
Outdated Information: If a note contains outdated or incorrect information, you can turn it off instead of deleting it, in case you need it later.
Drafts: You can keep multiple drafts of a scene or section, turning on only the one you want the AI to use.
How do I turn a note on or off?
Click the toggle switch next to the note's title.
Example of using connected notes
Character Development
Let's say you're developing a character named David. Here's how you might use connections:
Create a main note: Create a note titled "David" and give it the tag Protagonist
Create related notes: Create separate notes for David's backstory, personality traits, motivations, etc. Give each of these notes a relevant tag (e.g., "Backstory," "Personality Trait,"
"Motivation"
).
Connect the notes: Connect the backstory, personality, and motivation notes to the main "David" note. This shows the AI that all this information is related.
Chatbot development
For Rodger, link all notes that are pertinent to the "plot," and for Jane, link those that pertain to "characters." When you interact with the assistant, you can request insights from both Rodger and Jane to receive a comprehensive response that covers multiple aspects of writing.
You have the option to tailor your AI assistant by For example, you could create a note titled "Chatbot persona: Rodger" and designate Rodger as a specialist in plot development. Similarly, you could establish another chatbot persona named "Jane" who is an expert on character development.
