What is a note?

A note is a single piece of information within your Notebook Memory. Think of notes as the building blocks of your project. Each note should focus on a specific character, scene, plot point, worldbuilding detail, research finding, or any other element relevant to your work.

What goes into a note?

Each note has three main parts:

  • Title: A short, descriptive label that summarizes the note's content. Refer to the FAQ on

  • Content: The main body of the note, where you write the details.

  • Tag: A single category label that tells the AI assistant the type of information the note contains. Refer to the FAQ on

You can also connect notes to show relationships between them. Refer to the FAQ on

How do I write effective note content?

  • Be Clear and Concise: Use clear, straightforward language. Avoid jargon or overly complex sentences.

  • Focus on One Topic: Each note should focus on a single topic or aspect of your project. This helps keep your Notebook Memory organized and makes it easier for the AI to find relevant information.

  • Provide Sufficient Detail: Include enough detail to be useful, but avoid unnecessary rambling. Think about what information the AI assistant would need to answer questions related to this note.

Example:

Let's say you're writing a note about a character's motivation:

  • Title: David (Protagonist) - Motivation

  • Tag: Motivation

  • Content:

David's primary motivation is to protect his younger sister, Sarah. He feels responsible for her safety after their parents died. This drives him to take risks and make sacrifices throughout the story. He's initially motivated by guilt and a sense of obligation, but he gradually learns to value his own life as well. His desire for revenge against the villain is a secondary, but powerful, motivator.

Why is it important to write good notes?

  • Better AI Assistance: The AI assistant uses the content of your notes to answer your questions, generate suggestions, and provide feedback. Well-written notes lead to more accurate and helpful responses.

  • Improved Organization: Clear, focused notes make your project easier to manage and understand.

  • Easier Retrieval: Well-structured notes, combined with good titles and tags, make it much easier to find the information you need.

Key Takeaway:

Think of your notes as the foundation of your project. The more care you put into writing clear, concise, and well-organized notes, the more effectively the AI can help you.
